Forest Bathing - lovely new eco addition to Traveller 's Rest 1770. Our recent return visit had us enjoying forest bathing. What a great idea and wonderful experience in such a beautiful setting

I absolutely recommend this Bush Tucker guided treck through our beautiful Australian bush, with the highly knowledgeable and experienced guide and owner of the park, Mike. I learnt so much about the uses and conservation of the bushland that is totally inspiring! This is an absolute must do! And to top it off we were treated to a delightfully delicious morning tea courtesy of the bush tucker and native bees.

What an amazing morning! Right from the start we were warmly welcomed by Mike's partner Michi and young family on arrival at their eco campground ( Travellers Rest 1770). Mike's guided interactive 2 hour boardwalk tour through his ecological 'showroom',encompassed everything he is fiercely passionate about within his own flora and fauna ecosystem, and delivered in an easy to grasp manner, by an easy to like bloke! Even if this is not your usual type of tour,you will not be bored, and will come away learning so much more about the natural environment you live within. The 'come and taste' session during the tour was also another great learning experience!
We thoroughly recommend adding this tour or a stay on the campground, to your 'must do's' when coming to Agnes Water/1770.

I recently just spent two weeks at the beautiful property in which Bushtracks is hosted and i am leaving feeling soo blessed and educated.
Mike really takes pride in what he does and has been living this world of survival and human integration with nature for many years now and you can definitely see that in what he does. We learnt so many things on the bushtracks tour from how to identify particular trees, Flowers’s plants and shrubs, to what berries to eat and how to test if you can eat the fruit from a tree before you do. We dove into the ecosystem of the trees and learnt about how they communicate and work with each other to survive. You name it and mike discussed it, birds, insects animals… all questions are welcome and jokes are too.
We finished off with a beautiful tea and some jams and full hearts and minds.

It was such a beautiful property and well maintained. Mike was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Australian bush and bush medicine. It was fascnating! The boardwalk was so peaceful, and we really felt relaxed immersing in nature. The morning tea was absolutely delicious and refreshing after a hot day. Definitely recommend to do the eco tour and you will be fascinated! Thank you Mike! We had a wonderful time!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Bush Tracks Eco Tour with Michael, our very experienced and extremely knowledgeable guide. We learnt so much about bush tucker and the different native plants on his property. The sound of the many different birds was amazing. We loved the billy herbal tea, biscuits, jams made from Australian bush fruit and the taste of the native honey.
This tour is highly recommended to all visitors to the area.

We learned so much during the walk—our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The walk itself was peaceful and beautifully paced, allowing us to really soak in the surroundings. Morning tea was a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch. We have done Mike's Bush tracks tour twice now and it gets better each time he has so much information about the nature on the property and bush foods and medicine. It informative and interesting and a beautiful walk in nature - it is an easy and accessible so anyone can enjoy the tranquility of the bush and the flora and fauna learn so much.

We had a fantastic experience at Bushtracks! Mike is a very knowledgeable guide and he shared so much with us! I feel very lucky to have been on this tour. I could taste bushtucker and learn to recognise them and how to know if they're safe to eat. I learned a lot about our local flora and fauna and this knowledge is now with me every time I am in the bush. How cool! I had family visiting from overseas and it was an awesome experience for them to get local knowledge about our flora and fauna. Very grateful for Mike for choosing to pass on what he knows to others and creating these tours 🙏

My husband and I stayed a couple of nights at Travellers Rest 1770 and I can’t recommend it enough! Mike, his wife, and 3 young children have created such a beautiful eco-friendly haven on their own private property, and give you such a warm welcome from the moment you arrive.
We also joined Mike on one of his bush tracks tours which was a highlight of our stay. You meet Mike at the beginning of the Boardwalk where he does a welcome and introduction to the land, and also emphasised the importance of minimal environmental impact, which really resonated with us, as we ourselves are tour guides in Central Queensland.
Mike and Michi have very thoughtfully designed and built a boardwalk, which is also wheelchair accessible weaving through the trees without damaging them. Walking underneath a massive overhanging tree was an amazing experience. What truly set this tour apart was Mike’s knowledge of the local flora. He shared insights into the various plants, explaining their uses for food, medicine, resources, shelter, water and more. We then finished the tour sitting around a campfire, watching and listening about their natives bees and hives, eating some delicious bush tucker, native jams, and a cup of herbal tea—all made with wooden products, and often using materials Mike has created himself.
We can’t thank you enough Mike and Michi for such an amazing experience. Whenever we’re travelling back through Agnes Water, we will be sure to stay with you again and join you on another guided adventure!

This tour called “Bush Tracks” is located at Travellers Rest 1770 to the west of Agnes Water. It is located in Goreng Goreng country. It takes in a variety of paperbark and stringybark Eucalyptus, cabbage palms, cocky apples, black boys and other lesser well known but widespread species of native flora. It also included 3 commercial native bee hives and explanation of the habits of birds, goanna and other fauna. First Nation scar trees are exhibited and explained. I sadly saw what damage a single introduced feral pig will do. The country had been under a remedial cultural burn supervised by GorengGoreng elders. The process of this native practice was explained in detail (a first for me). The tour wrapped up with a sample tasting of tasting of cakes, jams and biscuits commercially available using native flora ingredients. As such it is an excellent educational tour with many insights into not only practical modern use of bush tucker and medicine, but also how we all could now live sustainably in Australia using the knowledge garnered from the local First Nation. Dave was our extremely knowledgeable tour guide, formerly employed with the NPWS in the Northern Territory. I went in a late Autumn evening when the paperbarks were in flower and it was cool. I would very much like to repeat the tour. Full body protection from mosquitoes is essential. As the tour takes in medical practices, probably best suited to intelligent tourists with experience of life. Easy level walking trail.

Great way to learn about the nature and history of the Agnes Water and the 1770 region. Mike was very knowledgeable and was willing to share his knowledge and encourage others to share any insights that they might have of their own, making for a delightful bush walk.
